Los mejores surfistas junior del mundo se reunirán en Japón para representar a sus naciones y luchar por el Oro en el VISSLA ISA World Junior Surfing Championship 2017 en Hyuga, que tendrá lugar del 23 de septiembre – 1 de octubre.

A continuación, las diez cosas que debes saber acerca del campeonato:

1. 1. Las Olimpiadas

Siendo que el Surfing debutará como deporte Olímpico en los Juegos de Tokio 2020 en Japón, el VISSLA ISA World Junior Surfing Championship 2017 servirá de precursor al Surfing de alto rendimiento que se podrá vivir en el 2020. 2. 2. Los Records

La edición del 2016 fue el evento más grande la historia hasta la fecha con 347 surfistas de 39 países. Esta edición del 2017 se espera que supere el record establecido con más de 40 equipos nacionales que harán de este campeonato un evento de récord una vez más.

3. 3. El Resurgir del Equipo de Japón

El Equipo de Japón hizo historia en el evento del 2016 ganando la Medalla de Cobre por Equipos, siendo esta la primera medalla ISA Junior para el país. El equipo japonés repite cuatro surfistas del 2016 con el objetivo de ganar otra medalla delante de su público local en Japón.

La edición del 2017 contará con dos equipos que cuentan con dos Campeones Mundiales de la ISA cada uno. Hawaii traerá a Summer Macedo (2015) y Brissa Hennessy (2016) y Francia contará con Leo-Paul Etienne (2014) y Thomas Debierre (2016).

7. 7. La Historia

El VISSLA ISA World Surfing Junior Championship 2017 será la primera vez que la ISA celebra un evento en Japón en los últimos 27 años. Reconocido por el COI como el organismo oficial del Surfing y SUP, la misión de la ISA es el crear un mundo mejor a través del desarrollo de estos deportes. Esto se consigue a través de los Campeonatos Mundiales anuales donde los surfistas representan a sus países, desarrollo de membresía, programas educativos, entrega de becas, prepararse para la participación del Surf en los Juegos Olímpicos y el promover la inclusión de SUP en futuras ediciones de los Juegos.

10 Things You Need to Know about the 2017 VISSLA ISA World Junior Surfing Championship

he world’s best junior surfers are set to gather in Japan to represent their nations and go for Gold at the 2017 VISSLA ISA World Junior Surfing Championship in Hyuga from September 23 – October 1.

Here are the ten things you need to know about the upcoming competition:

1. 1. The Olympics

With Olympic Surfing set to make its debut in Japan at the Tokyo 2020 Games, the 2017 VISSLA ISA World Junior Surfing Championship will serve as a precursor to the high-performance Surfing that will be experienced in 2020. The event, which has proven to be an indicator who will become the future stars of the sport, will provide a preview of the potential future Olympians who could represent their countries at the Games in three years’ time.

2. 2. The Records

Riding the Olympic wave of momentum that has allowed Surfing to penetrate new non-traditional markets around the world, the 2016 edition of the event made history as the largest to date with 347 surfers from 39 countries. The 2017 edition is expected to exceed these numbers, featuring more than 40 nations and leading to another record-breaking edition of the event.

3. 3. The Rise of Team Japan

Team Japan made history in the 2016 edition of the event, earning the overall Team Copper Medal, their first-ever ISA junior team medal. The Japanese will return four surfers from their 2016 squad with the aim to win another team medal for the local crowd in Japan.

7. 7. The History

The 2017 VISSLA ISA World Surfing Junior Championship will be the first time the ISA has held an event in Japan in over 27 years.
