La International Surfing Association Revela las Ciudades Sede para dos Eventos 2018

El ISA World Surfing Games 2018 se realizará en Japón;

El ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship 2018 se dirige a Brasil por primera vez en la historia

La International Surfing Association (ISA) ha anunciado a Tahara, Japón y a Buzios, Brasil, como las ciudades sede de dos de sus eventos principales, el ISA World Surfing Games 2018 y el ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship 2018, respectivamente.

El ISA World Surfing Games (WSG) 2018, el evento premium para equipos nacionales, se realizará en la ciudad costera del sur de Japón, Tahara, tentativamente entre el 15 al 22 de setiembre. Este evento viene luego de ser un exitoso anfitrión del VISSLA ISA World Junior Surfing Championship 2017 a principios de este año.

El Surfing está listo para hacer su debut Olímpico en los Juegos Tokio 2020, y ser anfitriones del WSG en Japón no solo ofrece a los fans y atletas de surf un vistazo más amplio de cómo se verá el deporte en 2020, pero también será la primera edición en implementar igualdad de género completa.

Siguiendo el éxito excepcional del Mundial SUP ISA en Dinamarca, la ISA también anuncia que el World SUP and Paddleboard Championship (WSUPPC) 2018 se dirigirá a Brasil por primera vez en la historia.

El evento de más rápido crecimiento en la Serie de Campeonatos Mundiales ISA, el WSUPPC llegará a la idílica ciudad Buzios, en la costa este, tentativamente del 23 de noviembre al 1 de diciembre, con la pintoresca línea costera brasileña lista para ofrecer un escenario perfecto para una competencia SUP de élite.

Junto con el Ministerio de Deportes de Brasil, la Ciudad de Buzios y la Confederación Brasileña de Surfing (CBSurf), el evento se prepara para satisfacer a los mercados de más rápido crecimiento en SUP y también construye basado en el éxito del Surfista SUP élite Luiz Diniz, quien ganó la Medalla de Oro de SUP Surfing en el Mundial en Dinamarca, la primera Medalla de Oro en SUP Surfing para Brasil.

Bajo la guía de la ISA, el deporte del SUP y el Paddleboarding ha florecido. La participación se ha triplicado alrededor del mundo desde el primer Mundial SUP ISA en 2012. El compromiso de la ISA con el desarrollo global de esta disciplina se ha llegado a la inclusión en diversos eventos multideportivos importantes, como los Juegos Panamericanos 2019 y los Juegos Centroamericanos en Nicaragua 2018.

Al referirse a ambos anuncios, el Presidente de la ISA Fernando Aguerre, dijo:

“Estamos emocionados por anunciar estos excelentes lugares para dos de nuestros eventos principales en 2018. Brasil y Japón son simbólicos en la histórica inclusión del Surfing en los Juegos Olímpicos, debido a que el voto oficial por parte del COI por la inclusión se realizó en Brasil y Japón será donde el Surfing hará el debut Olímpico en Tokio 2020.

“Esperamos que los mejores surfistas del mundo estén preparándose para correr la ola hasta Tokio 2020. El impulso y la anticipación alrededor de la competencia de Surfing en Tokio crece día a día. Llevar nuestro evento insignia de regreso a Japón, a solo dos años de los Juegos, seguramente añadirá mucho a esta emoción.

“Además, llevar el ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship a Brasil, dará una gran oportunidad para el crecimiento y desarrollo para el deporte. El Ministro del Deporte de Brasil, Leonardo Picciani, ha dado su bendición y total apoyo al deporte del SUP y a contribuir con el desarrollo económico de la región.

“Hemos experimentado un gran éxito para el SUP con su inclusión en grandes eventos multi deportivos y continuará dirigiendo al SUP por el camino correcto con el objetivo de su inclusión en los Juegos de Paris 2024”.

El presidente de la Nippon Surfing Association, Atsushi Sakai, dijo:

“El ISA World Surfing Games es una excelente plataforma para mostrar las olas de clase mundial, belleza y cultura de Japón a una audiencia global. Esperamos dar la bienvenida a los mejores surfistas del mundo para que experimenten las olas y la hospitalidad que tenemos para ofrecer.

“Con este evento a realizarse a menos de dos años de Tokio 2020, será un precursor del surfing Olímpico de alto desempeño y seguramente tendrá la participación de muchas estrellas del deporte que serán los primeros surfistas Olímpicos”.

“Estamos fuertemente interesados en la organización del evento y en construir relaciones que puedan contribuir con este campeonato en la ciudad de Buzios, considerando que esta área está naturalmente dedicada a la práctica de deportes acuáticos y es hogar de muchos atletas de alto desempeño en muchas disciplinas.

“Este Ministerio considera esencial realizar eventos de este tamaño en esta ciudad, el cual no es solo importante por el desarrollo del deporte, pero también para el desarrollo económico de la región entera”.

International Surfing Association Unveils Host Cities for Two Premier World Events in 2018

2018 World Surfing Games to take place in Japan;

2018 World SUP and Paddleboard Championship heads to Brazil for first time ever

The International Surfing Association (ISA) has unveiled Tahara, Japan and Buzios, Brazil as the host cities of two of its flagship events, the 2018 ISA World Surfing Games and the 2018 ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship, respectively.

The 2018 ISA World Surfing Games (WSG), the sport’s premium event for national teams, will take place in the south coast city of Tahara tentatively between September 15-22, and comes following the successful hosting of the 2017 VISSLA ISA World Junior Surfing Championship in Japan earlier this year.

Surfing is set to make its Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games, and hosting the 2018 WSG in Japan will not only offer Surf fans and athletes a further insight into how the sport will look in 2020, but also be the first edition to feature complete gender equality.

Building on the exceptional success of this year’s ISA SUP Worlds in Denmark, the ISA has also announced that the 2018 World SUP and Paddleboard Championship (WSUPPC) will head to Brazil for the first time ever.

The fastest growing event in the ISA World Championship Series, the WSUPPC will descend upon the idyllic east coast city of Buzios tentatively between November 23 – December 1, with the picturesque Brazilian coastline set to offer the perfect backdrop to elite SUP competition.

Arranged in partnership with the Brazilian Sports Ministry, the City of Buzios and the Brazilian Surfing Confederation (CBSurf), the event is set to tap into one of the world’s most fastest growing SUP markets, and builds on the success of elite SUP surfer Luiz Diniz, who took home Brazil’s first ever Men’s SUP Surfing Gold at the 2017 ISA SUP Worlds, held in Denmark.

Under the guidance of the ISA, the sport of SUP and Paddleboard has flourished, with participation worldwide nearly tripling since the first ISA SUP Worlds in 2012. The ISA’s commitment to the global development of the discipline has led to its inclusion at a host of major multisport events, including the 2019 Pan Am Games and the 2017 Central American Games, held in Nicaragua.

Discussing the landmark dual announcements, ISA President Fernando Aguerre, said:

“We are excited to announce excellent locations for two of our major events in 2018. Brazil and Japan are symbolic of the historic inclusion of Surfing in the Olympic Games, as the official vote by the IOC to include Surfing in the Olympic Sports Programme took place in Brazil, and Japan will be where Surfing makes its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020.

“We are expecting the world’s best surfers will be looking to get a leg up on their competition in riding the wave to Tokyo 2020. The momentum and anticipation around the surfing competitions in Tokyo is growing every day.  Bringing our flagship event back to Japan just two years before the Games with surely add to that excitement.

“On top of this, bringing the ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship to Brazil, one of the world’s top Surfing and SUP markets, will provide a great opportunity for the growth and development of the sport. The Brazilian Minister of Sport, Leonardo Picciani, has given the event his blessing and full support to grow the sport of SUP and contribute to the economic development of the region.

“We have experienced great success for SUP with inclusion in major multisport events and will continue to lead SUP down the correct path with the goal of Olympic inclusion in the Paris 2024 Games.”

Brazilian Minister of Sport, Leonardo Picciani, said:

“It is with great pleasure that the city of Armacao dos Buzios hosts the ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship.

“We are strongly interested in the organization of the event and in building relationships that can contribute to the delivery of this championship in the city of Buzios, considering that the area is naturally devoted to the practice of water sports and is home to many high-performance athletes in various disciplines.

“This Ministry considers it essential to carry out events of this size in the city, which is important not only for the development of the sport, but also for the economic development of the entire region.”
