21 de enero del 2016 – Sede Principal Rip Curl – Torquay, Australia: La surfer hawaiana Bethany Hamilton ha ampliado nuevamente su contrato con su patrocinador Rip Curl, la renovación de una relación que comenzó cuando ella tenía nueve años de edad.

Bethany, muy cerca de su 26 cumpleaños, ya ha llegado a alturas inimaginables en el surf; ganando competiciones nacionales, compitiendo en el Tour Championship WSL e inspirando a millones con su determinación frente a la adversidad – de volver al agua después del ataque de un tiburón que la dejó con un brazo cuando era una adolescente.

Ella continúa alcanzando nuevas alturas; este mes surfeando en “Jaws” con olas de 50 pies, en la ola monstruo hawaiana de Pe’ahi, mientras se filmaba parte del pronto lanzamiento de su película “Surf Like a Girl”, pocos meses después de convertirse en una nueva mamá con el nacimiento de su hijo Tobías.

Yo me las arregle para tener un año divertido de surf antes y después de que tuviera Tobias. Yo crecí mucho como persona en mi recuperación post-parto, y en mi decisión de volver al océano. Ahora, después de surfear cada día tengo ganas de volver a casa con mi hijo el apoyo de mi marido, esto es lo mejor! “, Dijo Bethany.

“Me encanta la vida familiar y las ganas de crecer juntos. No puedo esperar para enseñar a mi hijo Tobías a surfear! También me encanta las charlas motivacionales y la vida sana e ir inspirando a otros en su viaje. Estoy agradecida de tener mucho que esperar!

“Estoy tan entusiasmada este año! Sé que hay mucho más por venir y lo espero con ansias. Mi pasión por el surf y el mejorar mi capacidad aún está presente y no puedo esperar para perseguir aun más mis metas y sueños! Espero poder surfear algunas olas fuertes este año y empujar mis límites. También me encanta trabajar duro en mi surfing progresivo y quiero mantenerme en ello.

“Es especial haber compartido mi viaje de surf con Rip Curl desde que tenía 9 años de edad. Ahora tengo 25 y mi surf mejor que nunca. Estoy tan emocionada de mantenerme surfeando siendo parte del equipo Rip Curl! ”

El Presidente de publicidad y promociones global de Rip Curl Neil Ridgway dijo que la firma decía mucho, tanto para la empresa y el compromiso de Bethany, y estaba entusiasmado con este próximo capítulo.

“’Que leyenda …” Esa es la reacción que tengo cada vez que veo Bethany hacer cosas grandes o pequeñas “, dijo Ridgway.” Probablemente analizo su técnica en vídeo más que cualquier otra persona que practica surfing en el planeta, puedes realmente aprender viendo el nivel tan alto de rendimiento y la forma en que ella hace las cosas con su sólo brazo para remar y en el take off.

Bethany se encuentra actualmente en forma y com mucha fuerza, viajando y filmando con Aaron Lieber para su primera película de surf “Surf Like a Girl”, una señal de que el 2016 está ajustado a ser otro gran año para la sonriente goofy .

“Es una maravilla estar viajando para esto y haciendo lo mío. No puedo esperar para compartir la película! ”

“Surf Like a Girl” estará lista para su lanzamiento en el 2017.

January 21, 2016 – Rip Curl Head Office – Torquay, Australia: Hawaiian charger Bethany Hamilton has extended her contract with long-time sponsor Rip Curl, renewing a partnership that started when she was nine years old.

Bethany, just shy of her 26th birthday, has already reached unimaginable heights in surfing; winning national competitions, competing on the WSL Championship Tour and inspiring millions with her determination in the face of adversity – returning to the water after the shark attack that left her with one arm as a teenager.

She continues to reach new heights; this month taking on 50 foot ‘Jaws’, the Hawaiian monster wave of Pe’ahi, whilst filming for her soon-to-be-released film Surfs Like a Girl, just months after becoming a new mum to son Tobias.

“2015 was definitely one of the best years of my life, primarily because I became a Mom and I absolutely love being a Mom!!! I still managed to have a fun year of surfing before I had Tobias and after. I grew a lot as a person in my post-partum recovery, and in my determination to get back to the ocean. Now after surfing each day I look forward to coming home to my supportive husband and son, it’s the best!” Bethany said.

“I love family life and look forward to growing together. I can’t wait to teach my son Tobias to surf! I also love motivational speaking and healthy living and inspiring others in their journey. I am grateful to have so much to look forward to!

“I am so pumped for this year! I know I have much more to come and I look forward to it. My passion for surfing and bettering my ability is still lit and I can’t wait to chase more of my goals and dreams! I look forward to surfing some heavy waves this year and pushing my limits. I also love working hard at my progressive surfing and want to keep charging at that.

“It’s rad to have shared my journey of surfing with Rip Curl since I was 9 years old. Now being 25 and surfing better than ever I’m excited to keep surfing as a Rip Curl team rider!”

Rip Curl Global Advertising and Promotions Chairman Neil Ridgway said the signing spoke volumes for both the company and Bethany’s commitment, and was excited about the next chapter.

“ ‘What a legend…’ That’s the reaction I have every time I see Bethany do big things or small things,” Ridgway said. “I probably analyse her technique on video more than any other surfer on the planet because you can really learn from seeing the way she does things at such a high level of performance given that she only has one arm to paddle in and take-off.

“She inspires me to go surfing with a more positive attitude and I think she influences a lot of surfers that way. She’s a very popular person at team signings and events because of her attitude and people – young and old – just want to be around her and the good vibes she pumps out. Like I said ‘What a legend!’ ”

Bethany is currently in full force shooting and travelling with Aaron Lieber for her first surf film Surfs Like a Girl, a sign that 2016 is set to be another big year for the smiley goofy-footer.

“It’s a blast to be travelling for this and doing my thing. I can’t wait to share the film!”

Surfs Like a Girl is due for release in 2017.
