Josh Kerr will lead the charge in the Pull&Bear Pantín Classic Galicia Pro

The experienced Australian star commands an outstanding group of nine CT surfers that will attempt the assault on a record-breaking event. On the other side, a full-of-confidence Kanoa Igarashi will try to defend his crown of last year.

More than 300 surfers, 210 man and 93 women, made the registration in the 6.000 points QS championship where some of the best riders of the world will fight for the glory. 90 of those 303 surfers are now in the waiting list to enter the competition

Kerr It’s with no doubt one of the biggest names in the surfing competition in the past few years. Not just because he has now been in the CT for seven seasons in a row, but for his unique and aggressive style, plenty of airs and radical maneuvers. He is the latest addition to the Pull&Bear Pantín Classic Galicia Pro entry list that has been definitely closed. A very similar style has Kanoa Igarashi, defending champ of our event and recently winner of the prestigious Vans US Open of Surfing.

Despite his youthful he has lead, among CT surfers like Leo Fioravanti (Pantín Classic former champ of 2014) or Ethan Ewing, the generation change in the WSL Championship Tour. All of them will surf the wave factory of Pantin during the next week.

As has become customary in the last years, some of the best surfers in the world are originary from Brazil, best known in surfing competition as the Brazilian Storm, and Pantin will greet a representative sample of this storm. With an almost permanent presence in our event like Ian Gouveia (this year will be the sixth Pantin Classic for him) we will welcome for the first time another two CT Brazilian surfers like Jadson Andre and Miguel Pupo, without forgetting guys like Jesse Mendes, Thomas Hermes or Willian Cardoso, brazilian surfers who are dominating the WQS ranks.

And last but not least we could not finish without doing a special mention for Frederico Morais and Jack Freestone. Both surfers are playing an important role this year at the CT, specially the Portuguese man, placed nº14 in the CT ranking. For him this year will be the fourth appearance in Pantin. On the other hand, the Australian Freestone will surf Pantin for the first time in his career.

With this huge list of big names the Pull&Bear Pantin Classic Galicia Pro is facing the last week before the show starts, an extraordinary year in the long history of the Galician event.

El experimentado surfista australiano Josh Kerr comanda el impresionante grupo de nueve CT’s que lucharán por conseguir la corona de Pantín en una edición que promete romper todos los registros. Más de 300 deportistas -90 se encuentran en lista de espera-, 210 hombres y 93 mujeres, hicieron su inscripción para el evento que este año volverá a contar con la valoración de 6.000 puntos en ambas categorías. Esto permitirá que un extraordinario elenco de los mejores riders del mundo acaben luchando por la gloria a orillas del Atlántico, donde no faltarán estrellas nacionales como Aritz Aranburu, Gony Zubizarreta, Vicente Romero, Jonathan González o Andy Criere.

Josh Kerr es, sin lugar a duda, uno de los grandes nombres en el surfing de competición de la última década. Lleva siete años seguidos en el máximo apoyado en un estilo único y personal, caracterizado por maniobras radicales y facilidad para realizar aéreos. En esa misma línea se mueve Kanoa Igarashi, defensor del título en Pantín y vigente campeón del prestigioso US Open of Surfing, que regresa en unas horas a la playa donde levantó los brazos hace apenas 365 días. A pesar de su juventud, Igarashi está llamado a liderar, junto con otros surfistas CT y que también estarán en Pantín, como Leo Fioravanti (el campeón más joven en la historia del evento) o Ethan Ewing, el cambio generacional en el Championship Tour de la WSL.

Como viene siendo habitual durante los últimos años, algunos de los mejores surfistas provienen de Brasil, formando parte de la conocida Brazilian Storm, y Pantín recibirá en esta edición a una fracción representativa de esta tormenta brasilera. Junto a un casi habitual como es Ian Gouveia (este será su sexto año en Pantín) se estrenarán Jadson Andre y Miguel Pupo, que pelean por continuar el año que viene en el máximo escalafón del surfing de competición. A su lado, tres compatriotas que precisamente luchan por ascender a la élite: Jesse Mendes, Thomas Hermes y Willian Cardoso. Los tres ocupan los primeros puestos del ránking QS hasta el momento.

También Frederico Morais y Jack Freestone tendrán mucho que decir . Ambos surfistas están jugando un papel importante este año en el CT, especialmente el portugués, que está clasificado en la 14ª posición manteniendo así enormes opciones de conservar su plaza para el año que viene. Esta será su cuarta aparición en el evento gallego por excelencia, aunque probablemente está ante uno de los mejores momentos de forma de su carrera deportiva.
