Un número récord de los mejores surfistas adaptados del mundo se unirán en La Jolla, California, EE.UU. para el 2018 Stance ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship (WASC) presentado por la Ciudad de San Diego, del 12 al 16 de diciembre.

Más de 120 atletas de 24 países de todos los cinco continentes del mundo romperán récords de participación establecido en 2017. El crecimiento constante y año tras año del Campeonato Mundial, refleja el impulso de la ISA en hacer crecer el deporte a nivel global desde su creación en 2015.

37 competidoras femeninas tomarán parte y ganarán puntos de equipo para sus naciones, casi doblando el número de participantes mujeres del 2017, cuando las primeras divisiones de solo mujeres se introdujeron al evento.

Luego de que la primera categoría de impedimento visual tuviera su debut en la segunda edición en 2016, el 2018 hará historia como la primera edición con la participación de la categoría mujeres con impedimento visual.

El número oficial de participantes se anunciará el 11 de diciembre, al cierre de las inscripciones de los atletas.

El Presidente de la ISA, Fernando Aguerre, dijo:

“Dar una plataforma global y destacando los talentos de los surfistas adaptados alrededor del mundo es un gran motivo de orgullo y alta prioridad de la ISA.

“Estamos completamente comprometidos con el crecimiento y desarrollo del Surfing Adaptado y nuestro trabajo ha rendido frutos al ver la expansión del deporte en todos los continentes del mundo.

“Creemos que las cualidades del deporte de alto rendimiento y atractivo para los jóvenes traerían una nueva audiencia y una oleada de energía a los Juegos Paralímpicos. Continuaremos impulsando por su inclusión y trabajando con los Paralímpicos para crear un camino que nos ayudará a alcanzar este objetivo.

El Stance ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship fue lanzado en 2015 con el objetivo de dar a los surfistas con dificultades físicas una plataforma global para demostrar su talento en competencia.

Desde la edición inaugural, el evento ha experimentado un crecimiento masivo en solo cuatro años, con un incremento de participación de atletas en 75% y participación de países en 40%.

El Stance ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship 2018 se transmitirá en vivo del 12 al 16 de diciembre en www.isasurf.org.

More than 120 surfers, including women, from 24 countries set participation records for Stance ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship

First visually impaired women competitors to make history

12 individual Gold Medalists and Team World Champions to be crowned

A record-breaking number of the world’s best adaptive surfers will unite in La Jolla, California, USA for the 2018 Stance ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship (WASC) presented by the City of San Diego across December 12-16.

More than 120 surfers from 24 countries on all five continents of the globe will break the participation record of 109 surfers that was set in 2018. The consistent, year-over-year growth of the World Championship mirrors the ISA’s push to grow the sport on a global level since the event’s inception in 2015.

Thirty-seven female competitors will partake and earn team points for their nations, nearly doubling the women’s participation from 2017 when the first women-only divisions were introduced.

After the first visually impaired division was debuted in the event’s second edition in 2016, 2018 will make history as the first edition to feature visually impaired women.

The official participation numbers will be announced on December 11 upon the closing of on-site athlete registration.

ISA President Fernando Aguerre, said:

The Stance ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship was launched in 2015 with the goal of giving surfers with physical challenges a global platform to display their talent in competition.

Since the inaugural edition, the event has experienced massive growth in only four years, with athlete participation increasing by 75% and countries participation by 40%.

The 2018 Stance ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship will be streamed live December 12-16 on www.isasurf.org.
