LA ISA DA LA BIENVENIDA A LA INCLUSIÓN DEL SURFING EN LOS JUEGOS CENTROAMERICANOS 2017

La inclusión del Surfing en los Juegos Centroamericanos viene después del anuncio el año pasado que el deporte será parte de los Juegos Panamericanos 2019 en Lima, Perú, y es otro empuje importante en el camino hacia inclusión Olímpica en Tokio 2020.
Impulsada por una estrategia basada en el crecimiento y desarrollo del Surfing globalmente, la relación de la ISA con el Movimiento Olímpico ha sido una prioridad estratégica para el cuerpo gobernante por muchos años. La inclusión del Surfing en otro evento internacional, multideportivo demuestra su popularidad global y destaca como Comités Olímpicos Nacionales y principales organizadores de eventos están adoptando el deporte.
La ISA tiene una membresía activa y vibrante a través de Centroamérica y ha realizado varios Campeonatos Mundiales en la región. Nicaragua, un país con una costa maravillosa y condiciones excelentes para el Surfing todo el año, ha acogido cuatro Campeonatos Mundiales de la ISA desde 2010, incluso el ISA World Surfing Games 2015.

Hablando sobre la inclusión del Surfing en los Juegos Centroamericanos, el Presidente de la ISA, Fernando Aguerre, dijo:
“Esto es otro gran momento para el Surfing mientras continuamos nuestro programa de desarrollo y crecimiento alrededor del mundo. La decisión destaca la universalidad del Surfing y junto con la inclusión del deporte en los Juegos Panamericanos 2019, esto reitera el alcance fantástico y popularidad del Surfing en las Américas.
“Estoy entusiasmado de ver los mejores surfistas de la región compitiendo bajo las banderas de sus naciones en otro evento multideportivo. El Surfing tiene atracción juvenil increíble con una mezcla única y moderna de desempeño deportivo, estilo, cultura y energía dinámica – características y valores que hacen que el Surfing sea perfecto para un ambiente multideportivo”.
Noe Mar McGonagle, Surfista Profesional de Costa Rica y Medallista de Oro del ISA World Surfing Games 2015, dijo:
“El anuncio que se incluirá el Surfing en los Juegos Centroamericanos 2017 es una gran noticia para nuestro deporte y estoy emocionado de tener la oportunidad de competir por Oro junto con los mejores surfistas en la región. Estoy seguro que el Surfing agregará mucho valor a los Juegos con su estilo lleno de adrenalina y cultura única – será un momento orgulloso para mi y mis compañeros surfistas para representar a nuestros países en un evento multideportivo tan importante”.
ISA WELCOMES INCLUSION OF SURFING IN 2017 CENTRAL AMERICAN GAMES
Surfing’s inclusion in the Central American Games comes after the announcement last year that the sport will feature in the 2019 Pan American Games for the first time in Lima, Peru, and it is another significant boost on the path towards Olympic inclusion at Tokyo 2020.
Driven by a strategy underpinned by the growth and development of Surfing worldwide, the ISA’s relationship with the Olympic Movement has been a strategic priority for the governing body for many years. The inclusion of Surfing in another international, multi-sport event demonstrates its global popularity and highlights how National Olympic Committees and major event organisers are embracing the sport.
The ISA has an active and vibrant membership across Central America and has itself hosted several ISA World Championships in the region. Nicaragua, a country with stunning coastlines and excellent Surfing conditions year-round, has hosted four ISA World Championships since 2010, including the 2015 ISA World Surfing Games.
Speaking about Surfing’s inclusion in the Central American Games, ISA President, Fernando Aguerre, said:
“This is another great moment for Surfing as we continue our programme of development and growth around the world. The decision highlights the universality of Surfing and coupled with the sport’s inclusion at the Pan American Games in 2019, this underlines the fantastic reach and popularity of Surfing in the Americas.
“I am excited to see the region’s best Surfers competing under their nation’s flag in another multi-sport Games. Surfing has incredible youth appeal with a unique and modern blend of sport performance, style, culture and dynamic energy – characteristics and values that make Surfing perfect for a multi-sport environment.”

“The announcement that Surfing will feature in the 2017 Central American Games is great news for our sport and I can’t wait to have the opportunity to compete for Gold alongside the best Surfers in the region.
