Río de Janeiro, Brasil, 3 de agosto, 2016 – La International Surfing Association (ISA) expresa su gratitud y emoción luego de la decisión del Comité Olímpico Internacional (COI) de agregar el Surfing al Programa de Deportes para los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio 2020. El voto se realizó durante la Sesión 129 del COI, en Río de Janeiro.
El Presidente de la ISA, Fernando Aguerre, dijo:
“Después de décadas de arduo trabajo y dedicación estamos absolutamente emocionados de que el Surfing se unirá oficialmente al Programa de Deportes de Tokio 2020. Nuestro sueño Olímpico ahora se ha convertido en una realidad y en nombre de toda la familia del Surfing, quiero expresar mi sincero agradecimiento al COI y a Tokio 2020 por su visión pionera al hacer esta histórica decisión posible”.
“Este es un momento que cambia el juego para el Surfing. Ya vemos un incremento en la popularidad del deporte en todo el mundo y los Juegos Olímpicos darán una plataforma increíble para mostrar aún más el Surfing y sus valores fundamentales. Con su única y moderna mezcla de desempeño deportivo, estilo y cultura juvenil, el Surfing aportará algo especial a los Juegos”.
“Estamos especialmente emocionados por los atletas que ahora tienen su propio sueño a cual apuntar; competir por sus países en el máximo escenario deportivo. No podemos esperar a ver a los mejores del mundo enfrentándose en las olas de Tokio con millones de fanáticos del Surfing deleitándose por la competencia y la fantástica atmósfera de la fiesta de playa”.“Sabemos que el trabajo duro no se detiene aquí. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 3, 2016 – The International Surfing Association (ISA) has expressed its gratitude and excitement following today’s decision by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to add Surfing to the Sports Program for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The vote was taken at the 129th IOC Session in Rio de Janeiro.
ISA President, Fernando Aguerre, said:
“After decades of hard work and dedication we are absolutely thrilled that Surfing will officially join the Olympic Sports Program at Tokyo 2020. Our Olympic dream has now become a reality and on behalf of the entire Surfing family I would like to express our sincere thanks to the IOC and Tokyo 2020 for their pioneering vision in making this historic decision possible.
“This is a game-changing moment for Surfing. We are already seeing increased popularity of the sport across the world and the Olympic Games will provide an incredible platform to further showcase Surfing and its core values. With its unique and modern blend of sport performance, style and youth culture, Surfing will help deliver something special to the Games.
“We are especially stoked for the athletes who now have their own dream to shoot for – to compete for their countries on the greatest sporting stage.
