Mick Fanning (AUS) gana el Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal 2014

SUPERTUBOS, Peniche / Portugal (Lunes, 20 de octubre de 2014): Mick Fanning (AUS) ha ganado el Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal  2014, derrotando a Jordy Smith (ZAF) en tubos de 3-a-5-pies en el icónico Supertubos en Peniche. La tercera victoria para Mick en esta temporada, después de ganar en playa Bells y Jeffreys Bay, le lleva al puesto No. 2 en la calificación del tour mundial profesional de surfing Samsung Galaxy ASP World Championship Tour (WCT).

Tras la cita en Portugal, sólo el tres veces Campeón del Mundo ASP Fanning (AUS), el 11 veces Campeón del Mundo ASP Kelly Slater (EE.UU.) y el actual No.1 del mundo Gabriel Medina (BRA) permanecen en la disputa por el título mundial del tour Samsung Galaxy ASP World Championship 2014, en el evento final de la temporada El Billabong Pipeline Masters, del 8 al 20 de diciembre del 2014 en Hawaii.

Los posibles escenarios para lograr el título son>
• Si Medina termina 2do. o en mejor lugar en el Billabong Pipeline Masters, alzará el Título Mundial ASP 2014.
• Si Medina termina 3ro. en el Billabong Pipeline Masters, Fanning tendrá que ganar el evento y Slater quedará fuera de posibilidad del triunfo.
• Si Medina termina 5to en el Billabong Pipeline Masters, Fanning tendrá que ganar el evento y Slater quedará fuera de posibilidad del triunfo.
• Si Medina termina de 9no en el Billabong Pipeline Masters, Fanning, necesitará para terminar 2do. o mejor y Slater Slater quedará fuera de posibilidad del triunfo.
• Si Medina finaliza 13avo o 25avo en el Billabong Pipeline Masters, Fanning, necesitará terminar 3ro para ganar el título o si finaliza 5to se definirá el título en un heat “surf-off” entre él y Medina. Si Medina finaliza 13avo o 25avo en el Billabong Pipeline Masters, Slater, necesitará ganar el evento para titularse campeón del mundo.
