ARICA PRO fue Cancelado – Huge Waves Force Cancellation of Arica Pro

Como se predijo, olas gigantescas y series que superaban los 20 pies ( 7 metros ) de altura, estuvieron presentes en la mañana del domingo en El Gringo. El tamaño de las olas superó los límites del arrecife y las condiciones las dejó insurfeables. Por la seguridad de los competidores, después de una reunión con el personal de WSL, las semifinalistas y los organizadores del evento, se tomó la decisión de cancelar las eliminatorias restantes en los hombres de WSL QS 1500 Maui and Sons Arica Pro Tour en Chile .

As predicted, gigantic waves and insurmountable sets above 20 feet (7 meters) were on hand Sunday morning at El Gringo. The wave size surpassed the reef’s limits and left conditions unsurfable. With the safety of the surfers in question, and after a meeting with the WSL staff, the Semifinalists and the event organizers, the decision was made to cancel the remaining heats at the WSL Men’s QS 1,500 Maui and Sons Arica Pro Tour in Chile.

Los atletas que quedaban en competencia, Manuel Selman ( CHL ) , Andy Criere ( FRA ) , León Vicuña ( CHL ) y Miguel Tudela ( PER) , dividieron el tercer lugar. Cada uno recibió U$4150 en premios y 840 puntos para el Ranking WSL Qualifying Series.

The athletes left in competition, Manuel Selman (CHL), Andy Criere (FRA), Leon Vicuña (CHL) and Miguel Tudela (PER), divided an equal 3rd place finish. Each received U$ 4,150 in prize money and 840 WSL Qualifying Series ranking points.
